WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL and ONE BILLION RISING, 2024

As part of the year-round activities of the Women’s Film Festival and the initiative One Billion Rising (OBR Croatia), on Wednesday, 14 February 2024, starting at 8 p.m., the Zagreb Dance Center will host the program under the slogan Stand up for freedom, be the new world!

The program starts at 8 p.m. at the Zagreb Dance Center foyer, followed by a performance of the theatre piece Love Songs for Good Girls, written by Rona Žulj, directed and performed by Miran Kurspahić, and a video projection by Vanja Vaščarac.

At 8:15 p.m. a panel discussion on the topic “Violence in (Youth) Relationships” with the participation of: Ombudsman Tena Šimonović Einwater, member of the European Parliament Predrag Fred Matić, independent consultant (femicide) Dunja Bonacci Skenderović, representative and expert of the Women’s Room (sexual violence) Maja Mamula, Rona Žulj, author of the “Songs for Good Girls” and Rada Borić, the regional coordinator of the initiative One Billion Rising.

The program ends at 9:20 p.m. with the conclusion of the panel discussion and the closing address by Danijela Stanojević, WFF/OBR artistic director and producer.

Love Songs for Good Girls is a monologue that takes us on a ride across six, gradually increasingly demanding stages in the mind of the abuser – his logic and actions – from seducing his partner to dreaming about her murder. In Miran Kurspahić’s performance, supported by video projections by Vanja Vaščarac, viewers are exposed to the increasingly less subtle mechanisms of toxic romantic relationships.

The text of the piece was created in 2021 as part of the Safe House project launched by the organisation 6GTA.
