Traveloque

Starting point of the project is the meeting of the performance team consisting of a young (Flego, Vrdoljak) and old performance couple (Sibila, Valenta). By putting together the two performing qualities and forces (youth versus experience) TRAVELOGUE opens many intriguing approaches to research dance heritage and mechanisms of memorizing, storing and predicting the future of the dance.

The heritage, its importance and transfer to the new generations and the perception and reception, as opposed to their predecessors, is subjected to the processes of unlimited reinterpretation, recycling and transformations into a new choreography language. Activation of performativity lies in the possibility of rejecting the anti-interpretation, the mistakes in the interpretation and the difficulties with archiving dance as live art media. The work is inspired by Mak Dizdar's poetry.

As Mak said: „You know that the travel from you to me is not the same as the travel from me to you.“

The Transitional Fictional Theater – TRAFIK, founded in Rijeka in 1998, in this 35th edition of the Dance Week festival, marks its 20 years of continuous performance on the Croatian independent performance scene. The performance Traveloque, directed for TRAFIK by one of its founders Žak Valenta, spontaneously but conveniently, deals with the transmission of generations in the energetically charged space of liberation from their own memories, physical archives, and figures of artistic authority. “Scenography, subjects and phantasms”, whose promotion is followed by the performance, is a publication by Lara Badurina and Andrei Mirčev, and referred to as "a kind of photographic novel, with which TRAFIKs identities are transposed into the urban landscape and are associated with different Rijekas destinations”. The program ends with a joint party of TRAFIK and Dance week festival, which has systematically represented TRAFIK's works to the Zagreb audience during all this years.
