IMPEDANCE
IMPEDANCE is a contemporary dance performance, produced by SABMARINE, and the third joint choreographic project of Lara Frgačić and Endi Schrötter, who continuously explore interpersonal relationships in their work. After the pieces Individuet (2021) and Talking Head Case (2022), this project deepens their explorations through the notions of resistance and energy.
Inspired by the concept of impedance – the resistance to the passage of energy through a system – the performance explores the body’s responses to the forces that move, stop and transform them. Special focus is placed on fear and the individual ways of coping with resistance, resulting in a rich choreographic exploration of the relationship between energy, body and resistance.
Through movement, performers Endi Schrötter, Gendis Putri Kartini and Dorotea Domović explore quick and instinctive reactions, as well as the subtle forms of adaptation and surrender. The piece observes how energy is transmitted, shared and consumed among human beings and how bodies become systems of transformation through tensions, balances and impulsive shifts.
IMPEDANCE offers a new view of resistance – not only as obstacle, but as a source of connection, change and growth – inviting us to consider that, through resistance, we find strength and understanding in our relationships with others.
