FIREBIRD
What would the world without birds be like? In the play, the sad song of the firebird evokes a world in flames. Dance becomes a desperate attempt to escape from one’s own human form and transforms into a desire for metamorphosis and rebirth. In a world without a future, we reach for what remains: myths and folk tales that reveal the power of nature. The quest to find the firebird highlights the birds that have been an inspiration for folk storytelling. At a time when many species are under threat of extinction, the firebird represents a hopeless gesture of conserving nature in the theatre, evoking the inextricable connection between the human species and the environment.
