COCKROACHES
This show is for everyone aged between 5 and 105!
Stanisław Witkiewicz wrote Cockroaches at the age of eight, fascinated by Shakespeare’s works he just got to know. In its four scenes and less than two pages of text, he achieves the comic absurdity of a child’s view of the world and the grotesqueness which can be compared to the later works of Ionesco and Harms. From its very beginning, this short play is permeated with the sense of the doom, which has in the last year spread like a pandemic over our whole planet. Something undefined, huge and grey is approaching the happy kingdom, threatening its existence, and its inhabitants are not sure how to react.
In this new production, the Contemporary Dance Studio brings robots on stage, science fiction and the aesthetics of video games inspired by contemporary dance. The authors wanted to make a show for children which is in tune with our time and space, a show the children will recognize as their own, and the adults see as an opportunity to peek into the hidden corners of the children’s imagination.
