365
365 is an intimate, moving meditation on love, what it is, and what it might not be. 365 is a dance solo that speaks of isolation, hope, and longing spaces in hearts with rooms full of light in each of us. This gradually unfolding, profound reflection is based on an autobiographical collection of notes and poems written over the course of one year. 365 takes the audience on an intimate journey, quietly immersing and bringing each to a place of ineffable beauty.
Working in tandem with Seattle dancer Lauren Linder, and musician Erin Jorgensen, Petra works closely with light, video, text, reflection, and gently unfurling movement, resulting in a mesmerizing visual poem for one body that is both gentle and intense in its execution.
Petra Zanki (HR/USA) is a Croatian choreographer. She pursued her studies in performing arts at the Sorbonne in Paris and was granted multiple residencies across Europe, including a two-year choreographic scholarship for 6 Emerging European choreographers from ICK-Amsterdam/Emio Greco and Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance in 2012-2013. Petra was awarded Best Young Croatian Choreographer in 2010. She held residency at the Zagreb Dance Center from 2009 to 2013. Her dance and theatre performances Vierfüsser, Paces, and The Curators’ Piece, have been performed across Europe, in Canada, UK, Australia, and in US, to critical and audience acclaim. In the United States she has been invited to present her works at On the Boards, 12 Ave Arts/Washington Ensemble Theatre, Base: Performing Arts+Space, Velocity Dance Center, La Mama, and PS New York/Coil Festival. In the United States Petra has received following residency awards: best residency from The University of Washington School of Dance, IMP series at the Velocity Dance Center, Base Subsidy Artist Residency 2017, and Base Artist Residency in 2018, and was nominated for the NEA Creativity Connects Fellowship in 2018. Texts about her works have been published in Dance and Performance magazines such as Tanz, Performance Art Journal-MIT, Performance Research Journal, The Bomb, Kretanja, Teatar, and Frakcija. She is currently and Ambassador at On the Boards. Growing up in wartime Croatia, Petra’s main interest remains transformation of pain into landscapes of beauty for the benefit of humanity.
