Open Call For Participants KLIKER LAB – NEXT GENERATION

VRUM performing arts collective, Kliker Festival and Zagreb Dance Center / Plesni Intenziteti program / invite dance and theatre artists and mediators to participate in an interdisciplinary, hands-on artistic laboratory “KLIKER LAB – NEXT GENERATION”. This laboratory is dedicated to exploring innovative practices in dance and performing arts for young audiences and it consists of two parts: Moving Lab and Mediation Lab. It is possible to apply to either Moving Lab or Mediation Lab or both!

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

1. Moving Lab
   • Focus: Choreographic and performance practices for target group young audiences
   • 10 – 16h daily
   • Topics include participatory models, intergenerational collaboration, and expanded choreography.
   • Hands on practice with development of own artistic concepts and a showing / audience meeting event at the end of the week
   • Ticket for a selected performance during the laboratory duration, followed by an artistic exchange with guest artists
   • Individual approach, maximum 10 participants
   • 2 additional online lectures by international experts, creating a repository of knowledge and fostering dialogue
   • Led by Sanja Tropp Frühwald (dance maker, artistic director of VRUM P.A.C. and Kliker Festival), assisted by Filip Sever (performer, member of VRUM P.A.C.)
2. Mediation Lab
   • Focus: Art and cultural mediation in dance for young audiences.
   • 17 – 20h daily
   • Develop skills for preparing, engaging, and mediating young audiences’ experiences with dance.
   • Hands on practice connected with Moving Lab group, as well as with guest artist performance during the laboratory duration
   • Ticket for a selected performance during the laboratory duration, followed by an artistic exchange with guest artists
   • Individual approach, maximum 10 participants
   • 2 additional online lectures by international experts, creating a repository of knowledge and fostering dialogue.
   • Led by Sanja Tropp Frühwald, choreographer, artistic director of VRUM P.A.C. and Kliker Festival and Iva Nemec, professor at UF, theatre pedagogue, mediator at Kliker Festival

ELIGIBILITY

If you are Croatian citizen or Croatian resident, aged 18 or older and a professional choreographer / dancer / director / actor / performer / musician / multimedia artists / dramaturg / pedagogue or educator / in any other way related to the field of performing arts, interested in:

• Dance for Young Audiences – Making and / or Mediation.
• Participatory and inclusive performance models.
• Interdisciplinary approaches to dance and movement.
• Innovative methods of engaging young audiences.

DETAILS

• Dates:

March 10–15, 2025

Moving Lab 10-16h daily (lunch break included).

Mediation Lab 17-20h daily.

Saturday March 15 – schedule may be adapted to the needs of the showing, visiting the performance “3plet” by Andrea Gotovina / PSINK included

• Location: Zagrebački Plesni Centar, Ilica 10, Zagreb, Croatia
• Cost:

Participation is free for selected applicants.

Selected Moving Lab participants are granted a one time fee of 300,00 eur for their participation. Potentially Kliker festival and Zagreb Dance Center co-production is offered for 1 or maximum 2 new artistic projects for the field of Dance for Young Audiences to be developed for season 2026/27.

Selected Mediation Lab participants are granted a written participation confirmation of a KLIKER education program. Potential engagement on the next edition of Kliker Festival (2025, with potential prolongation), position mediator is offered (payed opportunity).

• Commitment: Full attendance is required! Contracts will be closed between participants and an event organizer.
• Photo and Video Documentation: Participants agree to be photographed and filmed for the purposes of documentation and further promotion of the project.
• Travel & Accommodation: Participants are responsible for their own costs.

HOW TO APPLY

2. A short biography. Please highlight any relevant portfolio materials or past work in the field of performing arts for young audiences (if any).
3. A letter of motivation explaining your interest in the program.
4. A short proposal / concept / artistic idea to be developed during the Moving Lab
