FEBRUARY at the Zagreb Dance Center – #KOREOSPEKTAR and supporting diversity!

February at the Zagreb Dance Center is traditionally reserved for the reprise program supporting projects by promising young choreographers – #KOREOSPEKTAR.

In addition to co-production performances – such as PLAYGROUND 22 choreographed by Jovana Zelenović, produced by the Association of Professional Dance Artists ‘PULS’, and REM of choreographer Ida Jolić, realised as part of a residency program and produced by the artistic organisation O/NA – during February, the ZPC will for the first time host reprise performances of works by young female choreographers produced by other important cultural and artistic organisations in Croatia.

Thus, mid-month, the program features block-performances of dance works …, AND EXITS ARE SMALLER STILL, choreographed and performed by Dora Pocedić and Linda Tarnovski, realised within the framework of the development and production program Pogonator run by Zagreb’s POGON, and the piece FEAR OF SMALL DIFFERENCES, created by Anna Javoran and Viktoria Bubalo, a co-production between the Association of Professional Dance Artists ‘PULS’ and the Municipal Committee ‘Voćarska’.

This year, Valentine’s Day will once again be an opportunity to support the valuable initiative ONE BILLION RISING, whose program on the occasion – organised by the Women’s Film Festival and OBR Croatia, under this year’s slogan Stand up for Freedom, Be the New World! – includes a performance of the theatre play LOVE SONGS FOR GOOD GIRLS, by playwright Rona Žulj, directed and performed by Miran Kurspahić, as well as a panel discussion on the topic of Relationship Violence.

The last days of this leap year February will be dedicated to kids and young people, offering matinee performances of the participatory music-dance piece THE DEN, by Irma Unušić and artistic organisation Shooma, and the always brilliantly received dance piece COCKROACHES, directed by Mario Kovač and performed and produced by the Contemporary Dance Studio.

The February program is realised in cooperation with the following artistic organisations and associations: artistic organisation Co-mment, artistic organisation O/NA, Pogon – Zagreb Center for Independent Culture and Youth, artistic organisation SHOOMA, Contemporary Dance Studio, Association of Professional Dance Artists ‘PULS’, One Billion Rising Croatia initiativeand the Women’s Film Festival.
