“Make the impossible possible, the hard easy, and the easy elegant.”

What is the Feldenkrais Method/Awareness Through Movement (ATM)?

The Feldenkrais method is a somatic practice in which we find the optimal form of movement that is effective, easy and comfortable for us through the exploration of movement. We calm the nervous system and improve focus and concentration.

What does an Awareness Through Movement (ATM) class look like?

In a Feldenkrais Method class (ATM Awareness Through Movement), participants follow the verbal instructions of the teacher who guides them through a thematically conceived exploration of movement. Most often, the classes take place lying down, but they can also be seated or standing, depending on the topic of the class. Participants move slowly so that they may pay attention to what and how they are doing, thus becoming aware of their habits, but also learn new, efficient and easy ways of moving.

Why is Feldenkrais useful and what for?

The Feldenkrais Method is a beneficial practice that calms the nervous system and creates a space for openness, curiosity and learning. It enables us to get to know our often harmful habits of moving, feeling and thinking, and to find new, easier and more efficient options for ourselves.

It is useful for dancers, actors, athletes and anyone who likes to move, but it has also proven to be very useful for people with various bone, muscle and neurological difficulties. It encourages alertness, concentration and focus.

How do we feel after a Feldenkrais Method class?

After a Mindfulness Through Movement (ATM) class, we feel grounded, often with a keen sense of skeletal connections, awake, rested and ready for whatever lies ahead.

Who is Feldenkrais for?

For everyone regardless of age, prior knowledge or physical abilities. It is very useful for dancers, actors, athletes, as well as people with physical or neurological disabilities.

What do you need to practice the Feldenkrais Method?

Bring comfortable and warm clothes and your own mat if you have one.
