Rich Program in October – Two Premieres and Other Well Known shows
This autumn, the Zagreb audience can expect a rich program of new and reprise performances of dance pieces by up-and-coming, as well as already renowned creators. The fairytale piece Mirabilia created by VRUM from Zagreb, intended for the youngest audience, will have its premiere in Zagreb at the start of October, while dance creators Petra Chelfi and Petra Valentić will perform the premiere of the piece PART3, as part of the Zagreb Dance Center residency program.
The Zagreb Dance Center’s October program also brings a reprise of the already well-known piece Never Allone – a choreographic journey by the author Matea Bilosnić, and il sonetto by the authors Martina Tomić and Ivana Đula, a performance in search of the possible dance translations of Shakespeare’s sonnets.
Imagines created by choreographer Zrinka Lukčec Kiko tackled the theme of freeing the soul through the metaphor of the life cycle of a butterfly, while author and choreographer Marin Lemić’s Selfiemorphia broaches questions of the impossibility of detachment and the simultaneous unstoppable need for it. These are shows that had their premiere performances earlier this year, while the Zagreb audience will have a chance to catch them again this month and enjoy exceptional performances by renowned performers and choreographers.
The October program closes with a piece from Zagreb Dance Center’s development program for young artists (Koreospektar), Ray Migration, created by Jovana Zelenović, in which the dancers re-examine the concept of creating patterns that remain in the space and continue to live in the memory of the observer.
The beginning and middle of the month are also reserved for the now traditional workshops of internationally recognised choreographers – Gravity Flow by Polish choreographer, dancer and pedagogue Magdalena Reiter, and the Common-Works workshop by Austrian-American choreographer and author Timothy Nouzak.
More information about individual shows and events are available on ZPC’s official website.
